Bruce J. Short, D.C.
Dr. Bruce is the owner and founder of Recharge Sports Injury Center. He graduated from Life University School of Chiropractic in 1999, where he was a member the mens Division I soccer team. He has been practicing in Northern Virginia for 10 years. Dr. Bruce is known as one of the best chiropractors in the area for accurately diagnosing an injury and treating it quickly so that his patients can get back to what they enjoy most.
He has worked with a number of NFL Professional Football Players, including several Washington Redskins. He has also worked with competition body builders, olympic cyclists and runners, professional tennis athletes, and marathon runners. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or just in need of quality care, Dr. Short will provide a treatment plan customized to your needs.
Doug Nagel, D.C.
Dr. Doug is originally from New York where he practiced Chiropractic medicine for 13 years. Dr. Doug specializes in the prevention and treatment of sports related injuries.
Dr. Doug believes in implementing various techniques to effectively treat his patients. He is Master Certified in Active Release Technique. He also will utilize Graston Techniques as well as Shockwave Therapy (E.P.A.T). Dr. Doug is a member of the Association for Care of Elite and Professional Athletes. Dr. Doug played Division I. Lacrosse at C.W. Post University in Long Island, NY. He also was once a nationally ranked Body Builder during his 15 years of competition. We are very excited to have Dr. Doug as part of the Recharge Family.
We welcome his over 20 years experience in treating sport related injuries. Dr. Doug currently works out of our Herndon Office and is available during regular office hours.
Lily Moezi, D.C.
Dr. Moezi earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from George Mason University in 2002. She earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer Chiropractic College West in San Jose, California in 2005. She has worked as an associate doctor over the past 5 years in two successful practices and she is excited to be part of the Recharge Team. Dr. Lily Moezi specializes in spinal corrective care. The purpose of spinal corrective care is to correct malpositions of the spine and restore proper curves and alignment.
Matthew Clay, D.C.
Dr. Matt graduated from New York Chiropractic College in 2011. While in school he took additional courses in advanced Chiropractic technique, Graston technique and Sacral occipital technique. He specializes and is certified in total body Active Release Technique (ART) as well as Graston. He utilizes the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and Functional Movement Screens (FMS) to prescribe rehabilitative exercise and diagnose athletic injuries. Dr. Matt is an avid athlete and sports fan. He played soccer at Radford University while earning his Bachelor 's Degree in Sports Medicine. Dr. Matt is from Sterling, VA and played both soccer and golf at Potomac Falls High School. He is a fan of all of the Washington area sports teams, including the Redskins and Capitals.
Gyzel Aval, D.C.
Dr. Gyzel Aval DC, is known for her work in restoring the normal curves of the spine, allowing for a fully functioning nervous system and alleviation of chronic headaches, low back pain, and neck pain. Pre and post xrays are taken to monitor patient progress and evaluated right in the office. She specializes in treating disc hernation and muscle injury as well by being certified as a personal trainer and working with many athletes by performing fitness and functional assesments and rehabilitation training. She has worked with infants as old as a few hours as well as geriatric patients up to 100 years old. She has helped thousands of people around the world by traveling to couple different third world countries as a mission trip and serve. Her goal is to serve others and her passion is to treat and educate. Dr.Gyzel is board certified and graduated from CCCLA, in Los Angeles, California and is a member of American and International Chiropractor Association.
Our Clinic Director and multitasking mastermind, Bill wears many hats here at Recharge Sports Injury Center. He serves as our Office Manager, Benefits Coordinator and Marketing Contact and is both ready and willing to assist you with all things Recharge.
A native to Northern Virginia, he grew up in Reston and attended South Lakes High School. Bill earned his B.A. in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University, Miami Florida. While in pursuit of his Bachelor’s Degree, he played NAIA Division I Soccer and worked Public Relations for an NBA Franchise.
Bill has been a member of the Recharge Team since 2009
Marita is our Ideal Protein Clinic Director. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Longwood University in 2011. She is a health and fitness fanatic and loves spending time outdoors. She is eager to get to know everyone and help with their long-term success!
Shirley is a wife and a mother to three children. She has lost weight on the Ideal Protein program and credits the program with helping her live a healthier, more active life. She enjoys walking and sports. She especially enjoys watching her kids play volleyball and soccer competitively.
